Oakridge Innovators Lab

Project-Based Learning & Inquiry Days

Oakridge Innovators Lab is a dynamic, mixed-age learning experience designed for curious, motivated, and advanced young learners who thrive through hands-on discovery, creativity, collaboration, and meaningful real-world learning experiences. Blending STEM, inquiry, design thinking, literacy integration, and project-based learning, Innovators Lab encourages children to think deeply, ask questions, solve problems, and take ownership of their learning in a supportive small-group environment.

Learners explore rotating Science and Social Studies unit studies through:

  • Inquiry-Based Learning

  • Engineering & STEM Challenges

  • Storybook & Literacy Connections

  • Writing Through Real-World Projects

  • Design Thinking

  • Collaborative Problem Solving

  • Outdoor Exploration

  • Creative Arts Integration

  • Portfolio-Based Learning

Aligned with current educational research, project-based learning days are designed to interconnect subjects in meaningful ways as learners naturally apply literacy, writing, math, communication, collaboration, research, and critical thinking skills throughout each inquiry cycle and hands-on project experience.

  • Learner Visit/Trial Day

  • Application & Review Process

  • Enrollment Acceptance

Innovators Lab is designed for learners who demonstrate independence, collaborative readiness, and the ability to actively participate within a project-based learning environment.

More Than a Program — A Learning Community

Oakridge Innovators Lab is part of the broader Oakridge learning community — a growing collective of like-minded urban families who value curiosity, connection, creativity, and meaningful childhood experiences.

Families enrolled in Innovators Lab receive access to select Oakridge community experiences throughout the year, which may include:

  • Community Gatherings

  • Seasonal Celebrations & School Parties

  • Family Events

  • Showcase Nights

  • Parent Connection Opportunities

  • Field Trips & Exploration Days

  • Collaborative Community Projects

Our goal is to create a supportive educational community where children feel deeply known and families feel connected, involved, and supported — without the pressure of doing everything alone. At Oakridge, parents remain meaningfully involved in their child’s educational experience while also gaining the support, collaboration, and community that many modern families are seeking.

Oakridge Creative Studio

Literacy Through the Arts

Creative Studio is an art enrichment class that connects children’s literature with hands-on art projects. Each class is connected to a storybook, poem, or literature series that serves as inspiration for the project.

Learners will explore a variety of art materials, techniques, and styles while building fine motor skills, visual thinking, creativity, and confidence. Projects may include painting, drawing, collage, mixed media, sculpture, and seasonal or literature-inspired art.

This 50-minute class is open to Oakridge learners and community learners ages 5–8. Like all Oakridge enrichment programs, enrollment is limited and requires an application and trial session to ensure the program is a good fit for each learner and the group.

2026-2027 Tuition & Enrollment

Creative Studio runs in six-week sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45–3:35 PM.

Tuition includes 12 classes and all basic art materials.

Oakridge Learners: $325 per session
Community Learners: $375 per session

Enrollment is limited to 8 learners, with a minimum of 4 learners required for the session to run. Drop-ins are not available.

Families may register here to reserve a spot. Learners who are not currently enrolled at Oakridge must attend a trial session prior to confirmed enrollment. This helps us ensure the program is a good fit for each learner and supports the small-group environment we value at Oakridge.

If the program is not a good fit following the trial session, the family will receive a refund.

Sprout & Stay: Toddler Transition Program

Designed for Crawlers, Walkers, & Young Toddlers

Sprout & Stay is Oakridge Academy’s toddler transition class designed for little ones who are ready to explore the world — while still having the comfort of a parent nearby.

This 75-minute, play-based class includes open-ended indoor and outdoor play, music and movement, snack time, storytime, playful classroom routines, and a warm goodbye ritual designed to support confidence, connection, and growing independence.

Parents remain on-site and are encouraged to gradually step back as their child begins to show readiness for separation at their own pace.

As children build comfort and confidence within the environment, caregivers will also have the option to enjoy our cozy on-site Oakridge Lounge — a quiet space to work, relax, enjoy a coffee, or connect with other caregivers nearby.

Come experience Sprout & Stay together and enjoy your first class at half price when attending with a friend new to the program.

Because exploring, playing, and learning are even better together.

Older siblings are welcome to join Oakridge Creative Studio (Summer Session Only) during Sprout & Stay! Designed for ages 4–8, this small-group enrichment experience encourages creativity, self-expression, and hands-on exploration through engaging art and maker projects led by a certified art teacher and art therapist.

A wonderful option for families with multiple children who would like to participate in Oakridge programs together.
