Oakridge Innovators Lab

Project-Based Learning & Inquiry Days

Oakridge Innovators Lab is a dynamic, mixed-age learning experience designed for curious, motivated, and advanced young learners who thrive through hands-on discovery, creativity, collaboration, and meaningful real-world learning experiences. Blending STEM, inquiry, design thinking, literacy integration, and project-based learning, Innovators Lab encourages children to think deeply, ask questions, solve problems, and take ownership of their learning in a supportive small-group environment.

Learners explore rotating Science and Social Studies unit studies through:

  • Inquiry-Based Learning

  • Engineering & STEM Challenges

  • Storybook & Literacy Connections

  • Writing Through Real-World Projects

  • Design Thinking

  • Collaborative Problem Solving

  • Outdoor Exploration

  • Creative Arts Integration

  • Public Speaking & Presentations

  • Portfolio-Based Learning

Aligned with current educational research, project-based learning days are designed to interconnect subjects in meaningful ways as learners naturally apply literacy, writing, math, communication, collaboration, research, and critical thinking skills throughout each inquiry cycle and hands-on project experience.

Tuition & Enrollment

$9,500 annually

Due to the highly personalized nature of the program, enrollment is intentionally limited to maintain small group sizes, an approximately 1:8 learner-to-guide ratio, and meaningful collaborative learning experiences.

All interested families must complete the Oakridge admissions process, including:

  • Family Meeting

  • Learner Visit/Trial Day

  • Application & Review Process

  • Enrollment Acceptance

Innovators Lab is designed for learners who demonstrate independence, collaborative readiness, and the ability to actively participate within a project-based learning environment.

More Than a Program — A Learning Community

Oakridge Innovators Lab is part of the broader Oakridge learning community — a growing collective of like-minded urban families who value curiosity, connection, creativity, and meaningful childhood experiences.

Families enrolled in Innovators Lab receive access to select Oakridge community experiences throughout the year, which may include:

  • Community Gatherings

  • Seasonal Celebrations & School Parties

  • Family Events

  • Showcase Nights

  • Parent Connection Opportunities

  • Field Trips & Exploration Days

  • Collaborative Community Projects

Our goal is to create a supportive educational community where children feel deeply known and families feel connected, involved, and supported — without the pressure of doing everything alone. At Oakridge, parents remain meaningfully involved in their child’s educational experience while also gaining the support, collaboration, and community that many modern families are seeking.

Oakridge Studios Collection

Oakridge Studios is our collection of signature enrichment experiences designed to inspire creativity, confidence, and curiosity through visual arts, performing arts, and engineering & design. Designed for young learners ages 5–7, each 8-week studio offers hands-on, project-based experiences that encourage children to explore their interests, develop new skills, and discover the joy of creating, building, and performing beyond the school day.

🎨 Visual Arts: Tuesdays

Diorama Workshop

Imagine • Build • Explore

Bring miniature worlds to life through the art of diorama making! Learners will design and create imaginative three-dimensional scenes using clay, paint, cardboard, natural materials, fabric, recycled materials, and mixed media. Projects may be inspired by nature, seasons, favorite stories, animals, or imaginative adventures while encouraging creativity, artistic expression, and storytelling through hands-on design.

🎶 Performing Arts: Wednesdays

Dance & Performing Arts Studio

Move • Sing • Shine

Dance & Performing Arts Studio introduces learners to the exciting world of movement, music, and performance. Children explore a variety of dance styles—including creative movement, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, musical theatre, and cultural dance—while developing rhythm, coordination, confidence, singing, acting, and stage presence. Each 12-week session concludes with a special performance celebrating learners' creativity and growth.

🛠️ Engineering & Design: Thursdays

Builders Lab

Imagine • Build • Solve

Builders Lab challenges curious learners to think like engineers, architects, and inventors through engaging hands-on design experiences. Using LEGO® bricks, Magna-Tiles, wooden blocks, KEVA planks, and a variety of construction materials, learners tackle creative building challenges, explore architectural design, solve engineering problems, and collaborate on exciting projects that encourage innovation, teamwork, and critical thinking.

Tuition & Enrollment

Each Oakridge Studio is offered as a 8-week session, meeting once per week from 2:45–3:35 PM. Tuition includes all standard materials and supplies needed for each program. Studios are offered seasonally throughout the school year, with new themes and projects introduced each session.

Current Oakridge Learners: $275 per 8-week session
Community Learners: $325 per 8-week session

Enrollment is intentionally limited to maintain our 8:1 learner-to-teacher ratio and ensure each child receives personalized instruction. A minimum of four learners is required for a studio session to run. Because each studio is designed as a progressive, project-based experience, drop-in registrations are not available.

Families may register online to reserve a space. Learners who are not currently enrolled at Oakridge Academy will participate in a trial class prior to final enrollment. This allows us to ensure each studio is a positive fit for both the learner and the small-group experience we strive to provide.

If a learner is not accepted into the program following the trial class, any tuition paid will be refunded in full.

Sprout & Stay: Toddler Transition Program

Designed for Crawlers, Walkers, & Young Toddlers

Sprout & Stay is Oakridge Academy’s toddler transition class designed for little ones who are ready to explore the world — while still having the comfort of a parent nearby.

This 75-minute, play-based class includes open-ended indoor and outdoor play, music and movement, snack time, storytime, playful classroom routines, and a warm goodbye ritual designed to support confidence, connection, and growing independence.

Parents remain on-site and are encouraged to gradually step back as their child begins to show readiness for separation at their own pace.

As children build comfort and confidence within the environment, caregivers will also have the option to enjoy our cozy on-site Oakridge Lounge — a quiet space to work, relax, enjoy a coffee, or connect with other caregivers nearby.

Come experience Sprout & Stay together and enjoy your first class at half price when attending with a friend new to the program.

Because exploring, playing, and learning are even better together.
